There are several kinds of visas that can be granted for visiting Bali, in general you'll need only:

  • Valid passport good for at least 6 months after arrival
  • You can purchase a 7- or 30-day visa on arrival
  • Payment of $10 US (or $25 depending on visa)
  • Onward or return ticket Overstays will be fined and violators past 60 days can be subject to five years in prison.

What to Pack
Depending on the time of year and where in Bali you plan to go, your suitcase contents may need to be adjusted, or carry a variety of items including:

  • Lightweight, cool fabrics for humid days
  • Small, foldable umbrella for rainy nights during rainy season
  • Light jacket for cooler mountain nights
  • Swimsuit and cover up
  • Sandals for beachwear and sturdier shoes for walking
  • Sun hat
  • Large amounts of sunscreen
  • Plenty of insect repellent (mosquitoes are a constant issue)
  • Iodine tablets or water filters (or avoid this by drinking only liquids in bottles---no ice)
  • Anti-diarrhea medicines
  • Your medications
  • C-card
  • Disposable cameras
